Abstract: This paper discusses the reproductive biology of the bivalve Thyasira flexuosa, thought to be a key species in the benthic community at Mutton Island, Galway Bay. Between March 1990 and May 1991 various reproductive aspects were investigated including sex ratio, seasonal periodicity in gametogenesis, oocyte analysis and general reproductive condition. Mean Gonadal Index showed a strong correlation with temperature.
