Abstract: Paper investigates the age, growth, reproduction and diet of a population of dragonets Callionymus lyra from the Galway Bay area. More than 99% of the 3302 specimens collected and analysed were caught incidentally by commercial vessels fishing for prawns (Nephrops norvegicus L.) and/or demersal fish on sandy ground off the north shore of Galway Bay in the vicinity of Spiddal, west coast of Ireland.
