Abstract: This paper reports on the investigation into the timing of major events in the reproductive cycle (i.e. initiation and duration of brooding, timing of larval release and settlement and fecundity) of the barnacle Semibalanus balanoides on two sheltered rocky shores in Galway Bay over the period 1987-1992. Infection of brooding S. balanoides by the isopod parasite Hemioniscus balani was recorded at 7% in the present study.
