Abstract: This paper reports on copepods taken by a mackerel trawler off Ballinakill, Co. Galway, throughout 1901. An exhaustive table of species distribution and abundance is given, with notes on the species, eight of which are new to British waters. One species new to science is described (Gaetanus pileatus), and the role of copepods as fish food is discussed, examining the gut contents of mackerel and herring.
