Abstract: This paper discusses the biology, migration, diet and distribution of rays and skates in the English Channel. Details of a series of trawls off the west coast of Ireland are also given, in which Raia clavata was seen to be more abundant in shallower water (to 100 fathoms), with R. fullonica more abundant at greater depths.
