Abstract: This book is the first attempt by The World Conservation Monitoring Centre (WCMC) to compile a world-wide survey of protected area systems. The book is organized into national (or occasionally sub-national) accounts, each comprising a description of the national protected areas system, accompanied by a summary list and map of protected areas. Ireland is discussed on pp 209 - 215, with national parks, nature reserves and Ramsar wetlands listed.
