Abstract: This paper describes an investigation of the shores (infralittoral fringe) and sublittoral hard substrata from Sherkin Island. Thirty-seven stations at twelve sites are described and their fauna and flora compared. Five preliminary communities are discussed along with potential indicator species. The methods and their latent problems are discussed.
