Abstract: Monthly samples of Argentina sphyraena taken in the Clyde Sea area over 2 years were used to describe age, growth, length-weight relationship, annual cycle in condition and mortality. Samples of A. sphyraena collected from northwest Scotland and from the south of Ireland indicate that differences occur among populations in growth rate and maximum size.
