Abstract: A comparison is made of the British types of flora (British, English, Scottish, Intermediate, Germanic and Atlantic types), as described by H. C. Watson, with the flora found in Ireland. Distribution maps of where each 'type' of species recorded in Britain was found in Ireland were compiled. Most of the Atlantic type species were maritime plants found in the littoral zone and were recorded mainly in the southern part of Ireland.
