Abstract: Species variation within plankton communities sampled around the British Isles are shown to be indicative of water composition, with clear demarcation between planktonic organisms found in Irish Atlantic waters and those found in the North Sea/English Channel. Particular attention is paid to the arrow worm (Chaetognatha) species Sagitta elegans and S. setosa.
