Abstract: This paper describes the anatomy and classification of a number of British anemones, three of which (Sagartia coccinea; Metridium pallidium var. rufa; Halcampa arenaria) were taken from Valencia and Church Islands, Co. Kerry. The mesenteric filaments and cinclides are discussed in relation to their value as classificatory characters.
