Abstract: The serum of the bass Morone labrax (L.) is shown to contain four main and one subsidiary protein fraction on electrophoresis. The components are called A, B, C, C1 and D in order of their electrophoretic mobility. Immunological techniques show that there are a minimum of six antigens in bass serum, three of which are also found in the mucus. Serological studies provide data concerning the relationship between bass and some other teleost fishes.
