Abstract: Paper reports on an ecological investigation of the beaches of north Donegal. Eight beaches were visited and a single transect taken at each beach except one where two were taken. Each transect consisted of five stations. At each station, a total of 1 square metre was dug to 18 cm and sieved. For each transect the following details are provided: the gradient, salinity, exposure, a number relating to coarseness of sand, deadshells found and types, and numbers of species. The relationship between the macrofauna and the ecological factors is discussed.
