Abstract: Paper presents a summary of the plankton species found in the Clare Island Survey. The plankton are divided into three groups corresponding roughly to three regions of different depth, salinity and water temperature; the open sea, the intermediate off shore region, and the bay and harbour region. The plankton community found in each region is described and the characteristic features of this community are noted.
