Abstract: This paper presents a numerical description of the data collected from each of four sites (in France, Ireland, Scotland and Spain) as an initial step in a common approach to analysis of data generated within the COST 647 project on coastal benthic ecology. Data is analysed with reference to community structures and the temporal variability thereof.
