Abstract: This paper describes the use of REMOTS (for Remote Ecological Monitoring Of the Seafloor) a technology which combines sediment profile imagery and computer image analysis. With it, the dynamics of biological and physical seafloor processes from imaged structures can be deduced. Its effectiveness is evaluated against 'ground truth' data provided by traditional grab and core sampling of the soft sea floor and its associated macrobenthic fauna. This report uses Kinsale Harbour, Co. Cork as its location.
