Abstract: Article in populist magazine highlighting the importance of lochs, particularly Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland. The authors report that this Lough is home to more than 70% of the marine life recorded on the Northern Ireland coastline (Approx. 2000 species). They discuss threats to the Lough including land reclamation and a proposed tidal barrage. Various recommendations are made regarding national sea lough management, and in particular, the management of Strangford Lough.
