Abstract: This paper describes the benthic macrofauna of Kinsale Harbour on the south coast of Ireland which was qualitatively investigated at 68 sites in 1978. Fifty soft bottom sites were quantitatively sampled in 1979 and 1981. Over 500 species recorded for the area are systematically listed. The soft bottom fauna is described with a number of faunal assemblages. The outcome of classificatory and statistical procedures are also identified. The composition and distribution of these groups in terms of their associated sediments is considered.
