Abstract: Paper studies historical and genetic aspects of Irish oyster populations. The populations studied were those at Tralee Bay, Co. Kerry, Clarinbridge, Co. Galway and Belmullet, Co. Mayo. Oysters were collected whole and frozen. Starch gel electrophoresis was carried out on the adductor muscle to look for any genotypic differences.
