Abstract: Abstract only. This paper describes a study of a large breeding population of cormorants (Phalacrocarax carbo) on Sheep Island, Co. Antrim, and following the activities of breeding and non-breeding birds in marine and freshwater habitats. The aim of the study was to obtain information on cormorant consumption rates and long-term demographic information. It is suggested that good quality age-specific cormorant data are required if scientific management of cormorants/fisheries interests is to be considered.
