Abstract: Abstract only. Aquaculture developments, particularly shellfish farming extend the shallow sublittoral over a large area. New habitats are created for small fish, Crustacea and larger predatory species which in turn constitute prey for diving birds. Paper presents observations of birds utilising mussel lines e.g. tern species and Gaviidae.
