Abstract: Paper considers gradients of nutrient concentrations in the Shannon sediments in relation to 1) the estuarine gradient (i.e. from river to sea), 2) the intertidal gradient from the top to the bottom of the mudflat, and 3) vertical gradient within the sediment itself. The Shannon estuary is on the west coast of Ireland.
