Abstract: A summary of the number of species found in each group during the Clare Island Survey is presented. The number of species new to Ireland, to the United Kingdom, and to science is noted. Bias, due to the limitations of the field work and identification expertise, is discussed. The flora and fauna of Clare Island is discussed in relation to problems of dispersal and distribution. An account of a trip to the Bills Rocks, and the flora found there is also included.
