Abstract: Gut morphologies of three holothurians (Oneirophanta mutabilis, Psychropotes longicauda and Pseudostichopus sp.) taken from the Porcupine Abyssal Plain suggest differences in feeding strategies. Holothurian activity was assessed by comparing bacterial counts, amino acid profiles and carbon and nitrogen content of holothurian digestive tracts with those of the sediment.
