Abstract: This paper gives details of a biological and chemical survey of Killala Bay, Co. Mayo, from September 1975 to September 1976. Investigations included water chemistry, flora and fauna of rocky shores, and fauna and species diversity of Laminaria hyperborea holdfasts. A method to detect trace amounts of acrylonitrile in sea water was developed.
