Abstract: Paper discusses plankton which was sampled over a wide areas of the Irish Sea in 1949 and 1950 to obtain information on its general distribution. The distribution of the principal species is described and, where possible, related to hydrographic conditions. The plankton of the Irish Sea is compared with that of the English Channel and the North Sea.
