Abstract: The paper comments on the distribution of Argentina sphyraena from northern Norway to Spanish West Africa. Catches of A. sphyraena are reported off the northeast, east, southwest and northwest coasts of Ireland and off the Rockall Bank. The morphometric and meristic characteristics of the species from different locations are discussed.
