Abstract: Paper discusses the population ecology of the limpet, Patella aspera, as part of an oil pollution baseline study. Limpets were collected from up to four tidal levels and from a range of shores from extremely exposed to extremely sheltered. Characteristics of the habitat were carefully monitored. The following topics were discussed: gonad condition, sex ratio and maturation, recruitment, mortality and growth, distribution and abundance and growth rates.
