Abstract: Paper provides an annotated (habitat and distribution) species list of oligochaete worms found in the British Isles and predominantly Ireland. Those described from Ireland are mostly from counties Dublin and Wicklow, with some from Kerry and Donegal. Some introductory ecological and geographical notes are given, as are some detailed taxonomic notes for some of the species. Twelve species are marine, of which four are new to science: Tubifex thompsoni, Lumbricillus evansi, L. niger and Enchytraeus lobatus.
