Abstract: Species of Coelenterata were collected during the Clare Island Survey and additionally along the coast from Blacksod Bay to Ballynakill Harbour. Specimens were collected from the shore, and by dredging to a depth of 30 fathoms. Reference is made to previous records from the area. Sixty-six species were recorded, with one new species of hydroid and over 40 species noted for the first time in Co. Mayo. Medusoid forms were not included in this survey. A list of species, with location and depth of collection, and note of those which were common or rare, is presented. Descriptive detail of the new species Halcampoides elongatus is included for identification. A general overview of where the main groups of species were found is included.
