Abstract: This paper brings together previous articles from 1924-1933 regarding the fishery at Plymouth, so as to illustrate the interdependency of fish biology with the fishing industry. The areas covered are the English Channel, the Bristol Channel, the Celtic Sea and St. George's Channel. The paper describes the commercial winter fishery at Plymouth, its economic factors, technology, catch size and causes of fluctuation. The biology, demography, distribution and variations of the landed fish are then studied in detail, and the paper concludes with a method for forecasting future yields.
