Abstract: This paper discusses the taxonomy, life history and distribution of British sea anemones, ten species of which are found in the south and south-west of Ireland, and in Dublin Bay. Two Irish species, Chitonactis marioni and Edwardsia tecta, are new to science. A new subfamily of the Sagartidae, the Chondractininae, is established.
