Abstract: The distribution and source of published and unpublished records of 307 marine, freshwater, terrestrial and subterranean amphipod species in Ireland are documented. A historical account of studies on amphipods in Ireland, including the researchers, frequency of publications, localities and habitats surveyed, and sampling methods, is presented. The occurrence of introduced species, commensalism, and parasitism is noted.
