Abstract: This paper deals with 'all the species of Podocopa known to us as inhabiting the Arctic seas, the North Atlantic Ocean and north-western Europe'. Areas north of 35 degrees latitude are dealt with, excluding the Mediterranean. Descriptions of the genera are given, with distribution and abundance of the species. A total of 135 species are recorded from Ireland, of which 108 are marine. Twenty marine species are new to science, of which five were taken from Irish waters, viz.- Cytheropteron depressum, C. crassipinnatum, Paradoxostoma fasciatum, Cytherura simplex and Cytheridea stigmosa.
