Abstract: Paper describes a method for surveying epifaunal populations and by the use of 'indicator species', benthic communities within a large area in a short period of time. The method involves 'flying' behind a towing boat on a 'sledge' whilst giving a continuous description of the substrate and fauna through a telephone. The sledge can be used in depths from 5 to 35 m.
