Abstract: This short paper discusses the correct identification of the species Codium amphibium first described by Harvey in 1844 from material collected at Roundstone, Co. Galway. The authors conclude that plants agreeing in habitat with this material have been shown to be juvenile stages of C. fragile, subsp. atlaticum and C. tomentosum. The type species is probably a juvenile of the former species.
