Abstract: A summary of the results obtained during the Clare Island Survey is presented. The report focuses mainly on the bottom fauna in the area (including Blacksod Bay, Clew Bay and Killary Harbour) as the pelagic fauna and flora are already covered in PRIA 31B Nos. 15 & 66. Different benthic communities were identified and the relationship between them and their environment is discussed. Sea temperature and salinity data are given, and there is a discussion of zonation with an account of the various works describing zoning. There is a hierarchical classification of the marine assemblages found and 30 are described.
