Abstract: Paper reports on a survey of the molluscs of Clare Island, and on the mainland from Emleagh Point to the southern entrance of Achill Sound. Molluscs were collected on shore and by dredging. Two hundred and forty-three species were collected, two of which (Thecacera pennigera and Acteonia cocksii (=Limapontia senestra)) were new to Ireland. There is a species list with abundance, location of collection, and a brief description of the habitat. The species found in this west coast survey are compared to records from the east coast.
