Abstract: The problem of 'erosion' along a 20 km section of the north Irish coast at Magilligan Foreland is examined in this paper. Field surveys, looking at wave, tidal and wind processes, admiralty charts, documentary evidence, air photography and responses of the beach sediments to variations in wave energy have all been used to examine the problem.
