Abstract: This paper is an attempt to gather together a comprehensive annotated check list of the poecilostome copepods of Ireland. They are perhaps the most diverse order of copepods and are usually found in some sort of association with other animals in marine, brackish or freshwater habitats. Ecologically they can be divided into three groups: the invertebrate associates, the planktonic species and the fish parasites. This check list is based primarily on a re-assessment of the published records in the literature, augmented by some new data.
