Abstract: This paper outlines the lives of the three chief researchers in the field of bryozoology and several others important in Irish bryozoology, and focuses on the important salient aspects of their work. It also provides a provisional list of Irish marine bryozoans, together with their presently known distribution, and lists the important bryozoological papers relating to Ireland.
