Abstract: Paper discusses the first records of the snipe-eel, Nemichthys scolopaceus, on the Irish Atlantic Slope. Three separate specimens were taken in the Irish Sea at different locations within a short time period. Paper provides diagram and distinguishing characteristics of two species known to occur in the Irish Sea, namely N. scolopaceus and Avocettina infans.
