Abstract: This short note records the mollusc Ianthina rotundata 'a somewhat rare shell' washed ashore in considerable numbers near Portrush, Co. Antrim. The majority of the animals were alive, 'some were among seaweed, floated in at the White Rocks, but the greater number along the sands, between the White Rocks and Portrush'. Large numbers of Velella were also found at the same time and place on the shore.
