Abstract: This short note records the collection of shells, particularly of one species (Littorina obtusata, 509 individuals) from the surface of sand covering 2-3 square yards from a small cove at the westward end of Bunowen Bay, near Slyne Head, Co. Galway. The author notes surprise of such a 'great preponderance of one species' since the shells were collected at random.
