Abstract: This short note makes a correction to the Ir. Nat. entry (*9*(2)48) in which the Blue Shark is recorded in Killala Bay. The first correction is that the Latin name of the Blue Shark was intended to be Carcharias glaucus (now called Prionace glauca) and not Selache maxima. The second correction is that after a further description of the shark stranded, it was thought to be the Fox Shark Alopias vulpinus and not the Blue Shark after all.
