Abstract: This short note records two occurrences of the Blue Shark Prionace glauca (listed in note as Selache maxima and later corrected to Carcharias glaucus) in Killala Bay, on the border of counties Mayo and Sligo. Both were large, the first was 9-10 feet and found dead (but fresh) on the shore along the sands at the western end of Bartragh. The second, almost 8 feet, was found floundering in shallow water in the estuary. The first shark, found on Bartragh, was later discovered to be the Fox Shark Alopias vulpinus (Ir. Nat. 9(4) pp. 108-109).
