Abstract: An account of the first extensive survey of the Mullet and Inishkea flora (Co. Mayo) is presented. Lesser previous surveys are first reviewed, and the geology and geography of the area is discussed. The flora of different habitats is described, including those of saltmarshes, sea rocks, and sand dunes. The flora of the Mullet is compared to that found on Clare Island, and Achill Island further south. Ssome reference is made to a brackish lake which fills at high water through a narrow drainage channel and yields a 'fair halophile flora'.
