Abstract: A review of the work of the Government Fisheries Branch, concerning the Irish marine area, is presented. This review lists the published results of the branch and highlights the papers of particular importance to marine research at that time. This included new records of Crustacea (Isopoda, Cumacea), Pycnogonida, Echinodermata, Pisces and Cnidaria. A number of species new to Ireland and to science were discovered and are described.
