Description: Watercress is actually a complex of two similar species and their sterile hybrid. For most purposes they can be treated as a single species complex. It grows in drainage ditches and shallow streams and is quite common. Well known as a salad plant, although for hygenic reasons (and conservation!) it is advisable to eat only cultivated plants.
