| Buddleja davidii |
Description: The buddleia or butterfly bush is a plant of Chinese origin brought to Europe in the nineteenth century for use as a garden shrub. It is particularly attractive to butterflies.
B. davidii spreads by producing abundant viable seed and is now established and widely naturalized in old quarries (especially limestone quarries) and on masonry walls and waste ground in urban situations.
This is the only Buddleja species which is naturalized in Northern Ireland although B. globosa, which is fairly frequently cultivated, has very occasionally been found as a garden escape.
All names: Buddleja davidii Franchet
